Hello everyone,
I have never really done a blog before... or really written poetry that I had before wanted to share.
But I thought that the way I discovered what I generously call a talent (you may consider it otherwise) was quite beautiful. Requiring a special introduction instead of just jumping right in.
It all started on a rather dull afternoon, as the most exciting things in life usually do. I was filling my time on Pinterest (second love of my life). And I found a clip talk given explaining an experiment done to show the results of inequality of payment between monkeys (it was quite hilarious) and so I ended up looking up the whole talk so I could watch the entire thing. Turns out it was a TED talk. If you have ever seen a TED talk you know how awesome they are, but this was my first introduction and it was all it took and I was hooked. A couple talks into it I found talk entitled Sarah Kay: If I should have a daughter... . She was a spoken word performer/poet, I could not believe how much her poems and performance resonated with me. When the talk was over I was left with the desire to hear more and to continue to feel what I can only describe as hearing my spirit sing. Youtube was my next stalking tool and it served me well. Have you ever been so deeply touched by words? Not just their meaning but their sound, their rhythm...their heart--beat. And just when you think you can't take in any more beauty, just in that moment, it feels like you are drowning and then, then you realize you can swim and swimming turns to soaring and then you realize that YOU, you are unstoppable. This is what Sarah's poems did for me.
I started researching how to do it... and all in one evening that turned into night I had discovered something that touched me, had the desire to learn more about it, and then to try it. And now only two days later... all I can say is that I am hooked.
I am a beginner so my poems might not be anything special. But we all have to start somewhere, right?!?
