The Question

This recording I feel is more spiritual, pleading, and imperfect. Which kind of goes perfectly with the poem.

This recording is more rehearsed and a lot of the personal connection and emotion is gone but it sounds more polished... I think both are touching but both give a slightly different message.

The Question

A girl with a question of desperation in her eye
I’m just not spiritual like you, why should I even try?

It has haunted me through time,
To explain to you in just the right rhyme,

Begging me to try,
to find the true reason why.

My response I wish now, I could undo.
So here is what I wished I said, without further ado.

I’m not more spiritual than you--it’s true,
That is why I was found without a clue,

You have spiritual divinity, just like me,
And so we both have spirituality,

One does not have more or less,
But rather one pushes forward and one tries to suppress

Spirituality is nothing more than faith, this is real,
At least that is how I feel.

Faith grows like a seed we have heard it been told,
This is such a precious truth don’t let it mold.

Spirituality cannot be measured,
Therefore it should not be compared.

And though now we have taken different paths,
I wish I could help you to diminish your wrath.

You are spiritual whether you believe it or not,
For here are some of the things, to me, you have taught.

Even in the midst of such darkness, a light, your smile can be found,
And even when life is hard, truth will still come around.

Everyone is fighting a battle so you know not to judge,
And so through your trials like a warrior you trudge.

I know I have let you down,
But I still know one day you will wear a crown.

For whether you believe those dark voices
Telling you that you never make the right choices

When going through trials and heartache,
Don’t turn to despair and start to quake,

But turn to our loving Heavenly Father,
Because you are His daughter!
